A private day hike on Mount Kilimanjaro is a perfect add-on to your Expert Africa safari. Departing ~6:00 am with private hotel pickup from Arusha or Moshi, you’ll drive to Marangu Gate (2 hrs from Arusha, ≈1 hr from Moshi), register with your professional guide and begin the trek at ~8:30 am. Walk through montane forest, giant heather and alpine moorland with regular photo and birdwatching stops. The 4–6 hour hike (route and pace dependent) includes a packed lunch at a scenic viewpoint before descending back to the gate and returning mid-to-late afternoon.
